Since 1938 the name ‘Merriott’ has been closely associated with moulded plastic components. The origin behind the name stems from the local village, Merriott, where the company was initially based. Being in the south-west of England is not an issue, as the company has customers in many parts of the UK, Europe and further afield.

In April 1999, Merriott Plastics came into existence, inspired by the above origins; however, in 2010, the facility decided to move to a bigger premise to support the growing demand. Now, Merriott Plastics has a 50,000 sq. ft. facility in Crewkerne, Somerset.

The facility boasts a wide array of press moulding machinery, including 20 injection moulding machines ranging from 25t to 520t clamp capacity. We have a variety of different branded injection moulding presses, ranging from Engel, Arburg and Krauss Maffei to Negri Bossi and Sandretto.

Our modern and durable moulding machinery allows us to produce mouldings from 1 gram to 2.4kgs in an array of thermoplastic materials. The Crewkerne facility also houses one of the country’s largest compression composites moulding activities, having a total of 28 compression and injection thermoset presses.

The press tonnage ranges from 25t to 450t for compression, including four off 150t side ram presses. Also, there are four injection DST presses with tonnage from 30t to 300t.

Our machinery enables Merriott Plastics to produce mouldings that range from a few grams to over 10kgs, mainly in glass-filled Polyesters, Phenolic and Melamine materials.

This facility also has an in-house tool room, which supports the production requirements and assists in improvements, repairs, maintenance and modifications when needed.

The Merriott Plastics Ltd facility in Somerset is a part of the larger Merriott Group, which focuses on the production of plastic components.
